Laura is a registered Clinical Psychologist and is skilled in working with older adolescents and adults of various backgrounds. Having spent time in a busy private practice, Laura has experience in treating clients with a wide variety of difficulties such as generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), social phobia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, drug and alcohol (D&A) issues, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.
Laura has also spent several years working in a university counselling service so she is experienced in working with clients with student specific issues such as time management, perfectionism, and procrastination, and can assist with providing support letters and documentation where necessary.
Laura understands that attending therapy can initially be quite daunting for many clients, so she endeavours to ensure her clients always feel comfortable and at ease when opening up about their problems. Her clients report that they appreciate her warm, relaxed, and approachable style of doing therapy.
Laura uses an eclectic approach, drawing primarily from Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Mindfulness based therapy, Schema therapy, and Positive Psychotherapy depending upon the individual needs of the client.
Laura also has a Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) and and has treated clients with various difficulties such as smoking cessation, nail biting, immune system difficulties, and phobias.
Laura offers a bulk billing service for all clients with a Mental Health Care Plan.
